AS MOST OF YOU KNOW, our Senior Pastor, Tom Willard, will retire in June of this year. When a pastor retires in the United Methodist Church, new pastor assignments are done by an appointment process. The Bishop and his cabinet review churches, their needs, profile, and match skills, needs, and personnel through this process. This past Sunday, Kim Bedford, the chair person of the Staff Parish Relations Committee announced the name of our new lead pastor to the congregation.

Camp Hill UMC’s new Lead Pastor will be the Rev. Dr. Gary Weaver.

Pastor Gary is currently serving at Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomsburg, PA. He has been an active, ordained elder in the Susquehanna Conference for over twenty years. In addition to his pastoral appointments throughout the Conference, Pastor Gary served many years on both the Conference Missional Board and the Board of Directors of the Stewardship Foundation. He presently chairs the Conference Sessions Committee with the responsibility of organizing the Annual Conference meeting of the church. In a love for God’s people and the mission work of the church, Pastor Gary will once again return to Haiti this year in March.

Pastor Gary and his wife, Cindy, have two sons. Isaac, who lives in Tempe Arizona, and Aaron who lives in Wilmington, Delaware with his wife, Mary, and their daughter, Rose Ellen.

Pastor Gary has served for twenty years as a Little League World Series Team Host welcoming players and families from around the world. He and Cindy are also both active PIAA Swimming Officials.

Pastor Gary has asked that we join he and Cindy in prayer during this season of transition.
