All peanut butter collected will be donated to support the PowerPac Program of Camp Hill UMC!
Many hungry children rely on school resources such as free or reduced-priced school breakfast and lunch in Pennsylvania. The PowerPac Program is designed to meet the hunger needs of these children at times when school resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. Through this program, children receive backpacks with nonperishable and vitamin fortified foods to take home on weekends.
Volunteers from Camp Hill UMC pack weekend bags of food at New Hope Ministries for students in the Camp Hill School District. Volunteers also deliver bags to schools and distribute at Camp Hill UMC on Friday afternoons. Donations from Camp Hill UMC and members of the community allow for the purchase or fresh fruit and additional nutritious items.
During the 2016-2017 school year the PowerPac Program served 52 students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Over the Christmas season the PowerPac volunteers organized a Giving Tree program to provide a gift for each child participating in the PowerPac Program.
