March 2018 EMBRACE Highlight

MARCH 4, 2018

WHEN YOU GIVE TO Camp Hill UMC’s one-fund for ministry, you embrace our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world!

How, you ask?

In August of 2017 because of the Embrace Initiative, we were able to increase our Director of Communication’s hours to half time. This has proven to be one of the best decisions we have yet made! Leslie Petersheim works behind the scenes, so you may not even have met her, but you most certainly have seen the benefits of her tireless, creative work. Leslie’s role is to facilitate communication both to those who already consider this to be their church home – and to those beyond the church who are not here yet.

In the Fall, she spearheaded the only large-scale outreach-specific event we have held in recent memory – a worship concert to which we invited the entire neighborhood, using door hangers she designed and distributed!

Just in the past month, Leslie has created a ‘Missed you’ postcard, a new Meet & Greet Event logo and postcard, a Welcome Folder design, a ‘First time giving’ thank you card, and a Camp Hill UMC greeting card to send to guests and those who are ill. She has designed new branded pens and a Holy Week banner, and she created a card for people to place in the offering when they give electronically. She created a CHUM Children Easter postcard, produced Upward Sports Ministry videos, spearheaded the design of a new welcome desk, and is serving on the Violent Intruder Task Force. She created Panguma Team prayer cards, and she creates the monthly Prayer Calendar. She continues daily to add and update content on the webpage, she posts on Facebook and Instagram, sends out the CHUMLink e-newsletter, and creates updates to the Camp Hill UMC app. Weekly, she creates new announcement slides for Sunday worship and is currently working on a plan to introduce our incoming pastor. And this is just a taste!

You can see how Leslie’s work touches every area of Camp Hill UMC’s mission of making disciples! If you’d like to contact Leslie to share a story about how our communication ministry has impacted your faith or someone else’s, you can reach her at:

Thank you!

As Leslie prepares to go on maternity leave in just a few weeks, we give thanks for the way Embrace has allowed her and this ministry to flourish! We commit to covering her time on leave in prayer, and we anticipate with joy the day of her return!
