Greetings! My name is Marsha Banks, and I’m a member of Camp Hill UMC’s Unified Leadership Council. Recently, at Camp Hill UMC we had the opportunity of celebrating the lighting of the 4th Candle in this advent season. Joy Unspeakable Joy! This past year I had an opportunity to participate in a Small Group Study where we read a book titled “Choose Joy.” During this advent season I find myself reflecting on some of the points I read in the book that I believe are worth sharing. Joy is trusting in God even when we doubt the outcome. Joy is not living in fear and believing that God is in control. And lastly joy is a choice that God gives us, and in our acceptance of this joy we can rest in knowing that he is Emmanuel (God with Us).

Speaking of joy, the ULC had a great Christmas celebration hosted by Jon Seltenheim. It was great to have a moment to relax and celebrate the members that were transitioning as well as welcoming new members to the ULC. The scenery was amazing, the food was delicious, and the conversations were exciting. Many thanks go to the Camp Hill UMC staff and the ULC for their time committed to passing our 2019 budget.

As we also reflect on the lighting of the candle for Peace, I pray for peace in our communities, peace in our homes, and peace for our nation. Peace for those who are seeking to know Christ – I pray they find Him soon. Peace for those in the churches involved in Impact Harrisburg’s transitional plan, may they take comfort in one another during this time. Peace for our denomination, as part of the global church, as we prepare to make decisions regarding how to exist as one, diverse church. Let us all continue to celebrate the birth of Christ and the importance of His presence among us. Merry Christmas!
