June 2019 ONE-FUND Highlight
JUNE 1, 2019
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
These opening words from the book of Philippians express a deep gratitude for the partnership we have in the gospel. Partnership in a community of faith manifests itself in many ways including faithful financial stewardship. Stewardship, managing God’s gifts of time, talent and treasure, has been a joy and frustration to watch at Camp Hill UMC. Many of you are actively involved here at Camp Hill UMC, giving your time and using your God-given gifts. The community around us benefits, as God is glorified, and we thank you!
The thin line between the joy and frustration of our stewardship is simply this—the joy is that our giving will, by the end of the 2019, match the spending plan (budget) that we, with God’s spirit, laid out before the year began. The frustration is that circumstances of day to day church life call for ministry that was not laid out in our financial plan. That is life! Among the ministry challenges that present themselves every day are: more individuals and families requesting financial assistance, new opportunities to be supportive of our neighborhood’s community life, and more CHUMC summer campers than we have scholarship funding for. God continues to bless our willingness to be open to these opportunities. A church bus that did not pass inspection puts us in a place of facing a $40,000 expense that surprises us and causes our leadership to dream of a new, versatile vehicle. One of the many things that we at Camp Hill UMC do well is to live into God’s dream for us, being confident that the good work we began will come to completion. Thank you for being dreamers together.
2019 Camp Hill UMC Unified Goals
The Unified Leadership Council has been hard at work, sharing in town hall discussion with the congregation, retreating, praying, and ultimately setting goals for the year 2019 that are driving our process of developing a plan for funding 2019 ministry, setting dates on the 2019 calendar, and our prayer life! We would like to invite you to pray over the goals for 2019, as well!
The goals are:
1. Increase participation of new people in outreach missions and internal ministry opportunities by 10%.
2. Develop and implement a path for adult discipleship.
3. Develop and implement a communication plan to maximize congregational understanding.
4. Achieve attendance increase to 600 on average per week.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these goals, please contact Pastor Gary, Pastor Anna, or any ULC member (camphillumc.org/ulc/).
Thank you for keeping these goals in prayer, as we unite as a congregation to work together toward achieving them. We are excited about what God has yet to do in and through us in 2019!
