OCTOBER 1, 2019
Here at Camp Hill UMC we have just spent the month of September looking at what it means for each of us to be a disciple. In that glance at discipleship, we examined how we as disciples make disciples. As Disciples of Jesus Christ, we recognize everything we have comes from God, and we are simply sharing these gifts for Kingdom work. Part of our Discipleship Cycle lies within the idea of DOING where among many things we do, we make growing commitments to giving with generosity.
Through our tithes and offerings, we demonstrate in a tangible way our love for God and our neighbors. Each year, this year in November, we will ask members and friends of Camp Hill UMC to commit to their tithes and offerings for the coming year in support of our church’s ministry and mission. We do this for three reasons:
1. All we have is a gift from God, so we believe that giving to God’s work is an act of worship.
2. At Camp Hill United Methodist, giving is an expectation of membership. The church does not specify how much an individual should give, but we hope each person will commit a percentage of their income and increase that amount as they are able.
3. Generous giving makes possible: worship, programs for children and students, Bible studies, small groups, pastoral care and support, mission trips, community service, and building and operational needs.
One-Fund giving generosity allows each of us to do Kingdom work, the work that makes disciples so that the world around us can be transformed. Thank you for being part of Kingdom work.
