NOVEMBER 9, 2019

It was a crystal clear morning waking up to beautiful views and the sight of a dormant volcano in Puebla. Thanks be to God, all team members awoke well-rested after our long travel day, and began the day wishing a Happy Birthday to Barb! Clara, our GYTTE sister, joined us this morning to guide us through the day’s events.

On the way to our first stop, we took a moment to snap a team picture in front of the Puebla sign in the center of town. Puebla was founded by missionaries in the 1500s and God’s hand was evident in the beautiful Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception we visited.

After the cathedral, Clara led us to the Amparo Museum where we learned a little about Mexico’s history and the role Puebla played in that. After lunch we journeyed to the Santa Rosa Museum (Museum del Mole). Here we learned about a convent of nuns and their everyday devotion to God. We were also taught about the Mexican mole sauce and stood in the actual kitchen where it was created. Did you know mole sauce was created in Puebla and is now enjoyed around the world?

The team is ending our orientation to Mexico and tomorrow will be traveling to GYTTE’s Tree of Life Center. We are thankful for the continued prayers and support from our brothers and sisters at Camp Hill UMC.
