Outdoor Worship at Camp Hill UMC

Camp Hill UMC will be holding three outdoor service opportunities during the month of August. On August 23rd, we will hold an 11:00 am (New Life) outdoor service with the specific purpose of receiving our confirmands into the membership of our faith family. This service is open to all. We will still live stream the 9:30 am worship service from the Worship Center that morning.

Also, on August 23rd at 6:30 pm, we will offer a worship night on the lawn.  This will be a New Life-style of worship. Pastor Stephen will be speaking.

On Sunday evening, August 30th, at 6:30 pm,  we will offer a Celebration-style hymn sing on the lawn. Pastor Kathy will be speaking.

For all services, we ask you to bring your own chair, wear a mask, and practice social distancing. We also ask that you pre-register for the events. If the weather is inclement and we need to make a service adjustment, we will be able to contact you. In addition, pre-registration provides for contact tracing if needed. Pre-registration is open!

CHUMChildren Ice Cream Truck

To celebrate the end of summer, join CHUMChildren at our own free Ice cream truck! Pick one of our three locations Wednesday, August 26th between 6-8 pm to get a free ice cream or freeze pop for any child, plus other fun surprises. We will email and post our locations on social media with the times we will be there, so invite your neighbors, family, and friends!

College Connection

Do you have or know a college student? Burton Lee, one of our seasoned members of Camp Hill UMC, takes time to send a weekly email to any college student who would like to receive it! Burton includes up-to-date Camp Hill UMC news and happenings, Bible readings for the week, quotes, fun facts, and wonderful stories from his years of travel and life! He and his wife, Sally, also take time to send extra love through the regular mail at Valentine’s Day and a few other times during the school year. If you are interested in hearing more, please contact Kayt at khughes@camphillumc.org.

CHUM Preschool Needs Your Help

CHUM Preschool is looking for substitute teachers for the upcoming school year. No experience required, just a heart for kids and clearances! Substitutes are contacted when needed. The hours are weekdays from 9:00-12:00 or occasionally 12:30-3:30. If you can help us out, please email Jen Stoner, Preschool Director, at jstoner@camphillumc.org for more information or to be added to the list. Thanks!

White Fragility by Robin Diangelo

Join us this summer as we read the book White Fragility by Robin Diangelo. As you read, take notes, pray about it, talk about it in your home and with those in your circle. We will create a space to use the book as a platform to talk openly and as a community of faith about racism. Jesus calls us not to turn away from the challenging issues but to join together and work towards a more just world. Sign up for the class that will run Wednesdays at 6:30 pm from September 16th – November 18th. A virtual class and an in-person class will be offered.

Unified Leadership Council

The Unified Leadership Council will meet next on September 8th at 6:30 pm online. These meetings are open to all members and friends of the church. To read past meeting minutes, visit camphillumc.org/unified. For information on how to log in to the Zoom meeting call the church office at 717-737-5631.

Be The Church

We have heard from many of you who are searching for ways to offer your talents and spirit to your neighbors. We are excited that we are bringing together those who are in need and those who are willing to help. If you are in need of food, someone to run an errand for you, or someone to talk to, we want to connect you with those in the church who care. So, if you are in need or you want to give of yourself, please visit camphillumc.org/bethechurch. Questions, contact Drew Robeson at
drobeson@camphillumc.org.

COVID-19 Update

Our leadership team is carefully and continually monitoring this situation. As information evolves, camphillumc.org/coronavirus is the primary, most up-to-date place for you to receive answers to commonly asked questions. We are committed to doing everything we can to provide a safe environment for our church family and surrounding community.

The Camp Hill UMC campus is currently closed. The church office will remain open with modified hours. On Mondays, the office will be open from 9:00 am—4:00 pm. Every other day of the week, the office will be open from 9:00 am—noon. For the safety of you, our community, and our staff, please call or email rather than visiting. If you must stop by, please call in advance. You can find our list of contact information by visiting camphillumc.org/staff or you can call the church office at 717-737-5631. Thank you for your patience during this time.
