Sheltering Arms Mission Ministry

sheltering arms

Sheltering Arms mission ministry was started here at Camp Hill in 2006, originally as a prayer shawl ministry.  Since that time we have given over 800 shawls to CHUM members and friends to comfort them  with prayer  and warmth during tough times.

We have expanded the ministry to knit, crochet, sew, tie, and quilt a wide variety of things for mission.

Each of the newest small members of the  CHUM family is given a baby blanket or quilt.  Fleece throws have been given to our shut ins.  Homeless blankets and quilts have been distributed by our Bethesda Homeless Van volunteers.

We provide baby hats to Harrisburg Hospital and kid’s hats to East Pennsboro Back  Pack Ministry.  Sweaters, caps, mittens, scarves and school bags are distributed through New Hope Ministries, Mission Central   and World Vision.

We feel blessed that we can use our creative talents to provide for others.  As we meet each Thursday afternoon to create, fellowship, and pray together we feel God’s presence in our work.  New members are always welcome.

We appreciate hearing of folks who could use the comfort of a prayer shawl.   If you know of a charity that could use items we make, please let us know.  We are always looking for new outlets for our work.
